The Nashua House Martha's VineyardNashua House Hotel – Affordable, Comfortable, Ideal Location
Historic Oak Bluffs accommodation boasts ocean views, downtown location and the Victorian charm of a landmark 150 year old guesthouse.

The Nashua House Hotel in downtown Oak Bluffs is a traveler’s dream. Clean, comfortable rooms, (some with ocean views) and a nice homey feel are a refreshing change from the third rate accommodations budget conscious travelers have become accustomed to. Located in the very heart of the charming village of Oak Bluffs, the Nashua House Hotel is a beloved Martha's Vineyard Victorian landmark, as much a part of the storybook surroundings as its neighbors the Flying Horses Carousel and the Campground cottages. Built as a rooming house in 1865, the Nashua House Hotel features a spacious front porch that is a meeting/mingling spot today,  just as it was when the town first became a popular seaside resort in the 1800s.

Walk Everywhere
For a first visit or short stay, the Nashua House’s location couldn’t be better. The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the Oak Bluffs ferries. Visitors arriving by the Vineyard Haven ferry terminal can hop on a bus and, after a ten minute scenic ride, be deposited within view of the Nashua House. The short walk across beautiful Ocean Park is sure to set the tone for your Vineyard vacation.

Once settled into your sunny room you can explore on foot, the most colorful (and arguably most fun) town on the Vineyard. Whether you arrive by day or evening, you’re sure to be tempted outdoors by the nearby sights, shops, restaurants and bars that lend Oak Bluffs its unique old-fashioned ambience.

Clean, Comfortable Ocean View Rooms
Modern amenities (wi-fi connection and AC) along with little touches like complimentary bottled water and an attractive comfortable lobby and front porch, combine with turn of the century architectural touches to make for an ideal mix of New England charm and modern comfort. The rooms are small but efficiently arranged, and each has unique details and/or color schemes. Some feature arched French doors, bay windows, balconies and other flourishes representative of the Carpenter’s Gothic style of architecture unique to Oak Bluffs. Cleanliness is always a priority and the cottage style furnishings lend a bit of authenticity while being well-maintained and tastefully coordinated.

Steps away from the Nashua House is Zapotec, Martha's Vineyard's widely acclaimed Southwestern style restaurant. Dine on authentic Southwestern food and sip back Zapotec Martha's Vineyardthe island's "Best Margarita!"

As the building was originally designed as a boarding house, the Nashua House rooms all have shared bathrooms. However, no more than three rooms share a facility, all have showers and the shared baths are attractive and meticulously kept.  Many rooms have an ocean view, some from in bed. Others share an ocean view balcony, and some boast a lovely town view. In any case, the beach is only 150 yards away, a quick walk across scenic Ocean Park. Stepping from the Nashua House’s front porch you are faced with the sweeping green expanse of the park with its famous gazebo and Atlantic Ocean backdrop. Seagulls circle overhead inviting you to the gentle waters of the Nantucket Sound.

Sightseeing convenience
The Nashua House is also just steps in the other direction from the world famous Campgrounds with the colorful gingerbread cottages and unique Tabernacle. The historic Flying Horses Carousel is equally close, as are a number of unique shops, restaurants and many options for nightlife. Downtown Oak Bluffs has a style all its own, stemming from its origins as a carefree getaway resort destination.

You can easily spend a weekend exploring Oak Bluffs, but the rest of the island is also within easy reach from the centrally located Nashua House. A bike path to historic Edgartown originates at Ocean Park. Bikes, as well as mopeds, are available for rent at the nearby Oak Bluffs Harbor. The bus stop, just across the park from the Nashua, is the hub for bus routes to Edgartown, Vineyard Haven and the up island towns. You can get virtually anywhere on the island by public transportation, making a car-free visit an easy and inexpensive way to see the Vineyard.
